Plato's "The Apology" is not an expression of regret; rather, it stands as a resounding defense of the philosophy and life of Socrates, one of history's most influential thinkers. Captured as a dramatic monologue, this text recounts the trial of Socrates, as he eloquently defends his life's work against charges of corrupting the youth and impiety. Benjamin Jowett's translation effortlessly conveys the passion, wit, and unyielding spirit of Socrates, making this ancient trial come alive for modern readers.
